What cookies are
Cookies are small text files set on your device by websites you visit. They are commonly used to make sites work, remember preferences, and (less appealingly) to track you across the web. We do not do the third one.
What we use
Strictly necessary cookies (no consent required)
These cookies are essential for the site to function and cannot be switched off. They do not store personally identifiable information.
- Cloudflare bot management. Cloudflare, our edge provider, may set short-lived cookies (typically
__cf_bmandcf_clearance) to distinguish humans from bots and protect the site from abuse.
Local storage (not strictly a cookie)
- Cookie banner dismissal. When you click “OK” on our cookie banner, your browser stores a flag in
localStorageso we don't show the banner again. Nothing is sent back to us.
Third-party cookies during payment
- Stripe Checkout. When you donate, we redirect you to Stripe's hosted checkout page at
checkout.stripe.com. Stripe sets its own cookies there to process your payment and prevent fraud. These cookies are governed by Stripe's privacy policy.
What we don't use
We don't use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, advertising networks, or any other third-party analytics or tracking. We have no plans to start. If that ever changes, this page and the cookie banner will tell you, and we will not switch anything on until you have had a chance to opt out.
Controlling cookies
Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies. The ICO's page on cookies has clear, vendor-neutral guidance. Blocking strictly-necessary cookies may affect how the site works.
